A medical assistant is responsible for everything from administrative work to patient and physician support tasks at hospitals, doctor offices, medical clinics, and other facilities. They may help to get a patient’s medical history information or taking their vital signs.
Part of the education and training includes medical terminology, human anatomy, and proper management of blood samples. This course presents introductory level procedures for assisting the physician with patient/client examination. includes communication skills, infection control, aseptic technique, and progresses to office procedures, room preparation, patient/client assessment and education, nutrition, inventory, and equipment maintenance. Competency examination for patient/client history, biohazardous spill, contaminated glove removal, hand washing, vital signs, positioning and draping, and specialty examinations are included.
